Special thanks to TPC member Erich Newell for giving me a heads up! Looks like it struck a nerve and it asks the same thing we ask here TPC. Here was my response (edited to remove user I replied to):
I have been working direct in enterprise IT for the last 10 years for companies like IBM, Honeywell, SunGard and WebEx without a degree, so the answer is degrees don't matter. I recently quit my six figure job at Honeywell (which was bachelors required, masters preferred) to start helping people and founded http://thepaperceiling.com/ to help technologists (with or without degrees) make more money and start focusing not on degrees, but who you are. It's in beta right now, and I am building an open community where we can help each other succeed.
There is no magic bullet. You have to work hard, learn as you go and be open to all possibilities.
On to social media.
If you have not watched it yet, check out Gary Vaynerchuk at the web 2.0 conference in NY. I got the chance to meet him at the #AZEC (The Arizona Entrepreneurship Conference) where he gave the keynote. If you want to be inspired to get out of corporate life I don't think there is a better source of straight talk with no BS. More here if you missed the conference. Favorite quote "If the nerds like it, it's going to eventually happen."
